CARLES PUIG

Born in Tossa de Mar (Girona), he started his musical education at the age of 6 with Dolors Brufau París acquiring his first violin and piano skills. A few years later he is accepted at the “Conservatori de la Diputació de Girona” with the teacher Maria Victoria Fernandez where he obtains the “Professional Diploma” of Violin. Maestro Gonçal Comellas becomes his next teacher at the “Conservatori del Liceu” in Barcelona where he will graduate in Solo as well as in Chamber Music playing.

Afterwards he moves to The Netherlands where he obtains a Bachelor in Music at the Conservatory of Utrecht under the guidance of Chris Duindam. After the advices of Kees Hulsmann, he will get his Master's degree with honours. At the same time he is attracted by the world of historical interpretation following regular lessons by the violinist Antoinette Lohmann and playing in many baroque ensembles around the Low Countries. He continues his education at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with the Osiris Trio and at the International Chamber Music Academy of the Trio di Trieste in Italy.

He has received masterclasses by Anna Baget, Isabel Vilà, Boris Belkin, Philip Naegele, Lis Perry, Natalia Gabunia, Indira Koch, Corrado Bolsi, Quartet Casals, Utrecht String Quartet, Timora Rosler, Alan Weiss, Trio di Parma, Storioni Trio, Cibrán Sierra (Cuarteto Quiroga), Kennedy Moretti…

Carles have played in many orchestras such as the Catalan National Youth Orchestra , Spanish National Youth Orchestra,”Orquestra de Cadaques”,“Rotterdam Kamerorkest”, “ORCAM”, “Orquestra del Vallés”, “NoordPool Orkest”. He is currently the leader of the second violins section of the Franz Schubert Filharmonia and he is invited regularly as the Concertmaster of the Gyo Symphonia, playing as a soloist in some of the most important halls all over Catalonia (“Palau de la Música”, “Auditori de Girona”, “Espai Ter de Torroella de Montgrí”, “Teatre Principal de Sabadell”...).

Since 2011 he is the violinist of the Trio Rodin.
